How do you know when it’s the one.
So many wonderful artist, so many genres. What captivates you?
Educate yourself beginning with going to art fairs, museums, and art galleries. Decide what you like, talk to art consultants and collectors. Buying the first piece can be intimidating when you feel like everyone knows whats going on except for you. But it’s not that hard.
Does it intrigue you when starring at Norman Rockwell's dreamy works,  Edward Hoppers lonesome figures, or Degas? Get to know these famous artists.

3 Rules 
Follow the color scheme if the space has already been furnished
When choosing wall art its crucial to know your color scheme. A basic rule of thumb is to select an art piece that will match your room without detracting from any of the design elements that are in it. 

Follow the theme of your room
As with all other pieces of art, there is a range of styles that you can choose from. There are landscapes, flowers, abstract and many others that can be found in artwork so you really need to make sure that the theme in the picture does not clash with the theme in your room.

Proportions
First, take a tape measure and get the dimension of the space that needs the artwork. Once you have those dimensions, you will have a better idea of what you would like in a piece.
Make sure that the art matches the size of the wall. For the former, it may not fit, and for the latter, it may appear out of place in the room.

My Traditional Mediterranean Project

I'm happy to announce my latest project Traditional Mediterranean. I had the opportunity to design the interior of a three-story Mediterranean house with sleek, classic touches. The photos you see are shot by the renowned photographer Grey Crawford who captures the essence of my innovative design which borrows from classic and modern elements to create unique exciting spaces. The foyer contrast a bold, modern Basquiat work with a classic console and mirror, adding an extra dimension with the Dennis & Lean sculpture. Mix modern with traditional pieces to create unique and current feel.

The hands, unexpected and eye catching, become useful as flower holders, turning the wall by the winding staircase into a conversation piece.

The living room uses a monochromatic color scheme, drawing the eye to corner piece with its range of warm tans and browns which the client wanted.  And notice the signature swing. This room has a little something for everyone from traditional to modern.

I love the combination of salmon and rusty colors juxtaposed with grays and whites of the hand-painted Paul Montgomery silk wallpaper custom made to my specifications. Wallpaper isn't always for grandma's it can be modern if you add the right touches.

The detail shows how so many design elements, including the green succulents and the Jeremy Briddle ceramic vases on the buffet, come together to create an elegant, yet richly varied space. 

The textured Venetian plaster, the cowhide rug and the oak flooring come together in an office to create a uniquely intimate and varied experience.  The Portuguese hand-rubbed black mahogany desk creates a solid base of operation. Try using bold colors to give a small room big personality.

The powder room’s copper wall, the client’s favorite color, is enhanced with Pangea Sconces bu Hudson Furniture  and a traditional wall-mounted sink to make a welcoming place of respite for guests.

The subterranean lounge is for entertainment, using a white motif to create the feeling of a special place.  The oversize center bed fits 12 to loll and watch TV.  The Retna piece, red, white and blue, draws the eye to trail-blazing art. Having a monochromatic color scheme ties everything together, while creating an upscale look. Just select the right pieces.

Neutrals & Monochromatic

Sometimes you just can't beat the classics like neutrals and monochromatics. They pull together a space effortlessly, are timeless, and paired with textures they create a high end look. -M

In my bedroom, everything is neutral, but I keep it interesting through different materials and textures such as lucite, wood, lambs wool, and linens. My bed is an antique wood bed with bronze on it. I've had it since I was 15. Somethings are too sentimental and hard to get rid of. To modern up an old space ad a few new pieces here and there or add a new painting or paint color to the walls.

What a magnificent chandelier created by artist Donald Lipski. It represents a grapevine root system.
