Neutrals & Monochromatic

Sometimes you just can't beat the classics like neutrals and monochromatics. They pull together a space effortlessly, are timeless, and paired with textures they create a high end look. -M

In my bedroom, everything is neutral, but I keep it interesting through different materials and textures such as lucite, wood, lambs wool, and linens. My bed is an antique wood bed with bronze on it. I've had it since I was 15. Somethings are too sentimental and hard to get rid of. To modern up an old space ad a few new pieces here and there or add a new painting or paint color to the walls.

Monochromatic color schemes are a great way to pull together a room.

Finland has a long history of desiring to stay out of international conflicts, is recognized as neutral and always ranks in the top 10 of the Global Peace Index.

Abstract artwork is always a easy fix to update a room.

A minimal approach to your design can be used when making your chandelier the main attraction of your dining room. Enchanting tree chandelier. One of the most beautiful trees I've seen in Napa Valley is made from crystals and lights. Hall Rutherford Winery. What a magnificent chandelier created by artist Donald Lipski. It represents a grapevine root system.

Can't decide on a paint color, try striped walls.

Pastel & Pink

Sometimes a neutral space feels plain and lacks personality to liven it up add pink. - M

Pink isn't always feminine if used properly.

Pastel pink can also be used to soften a space.

Add a splash to a front door for a cheery entry.

Pink in this room is used more like a neutral.

Lastly if you're too scared to use pink go for more temporary accessories, if you don't love it you can switch it out whether it be flowers or pillows.

Hello Yellow!

Choose the right colors: When beginning any interior design project, make sure your color scheme is complementary and the colors work together, creating a balanced look. Neutrals should work to balance bright colors. You don’t want it to be too busy with too many different colors competing or too flat and boring with only neutrals catching the eye.

Create a mood: Are you seeking the tranquility of an Asian style or the sleek simplicity of contemporary design. Whether you’re looking to enlarge a tight space, make a cavernous space feel cozier, or create a space that is calming, bold, or elegant, it’s important to first figure out the mood you want to create before getting started. In the end, this will help make the design theme more cohesive.

Amazing new pieces in the shop that have an exciting color palette, perfect to cheer you up any day.

Bring big personality to your home with a little paint on the door.

Keep it functional: Be smart about your interior design decisions so they don’t detract from the functionality of your day-to-day living. When choosing a design theme, be sure to keep in mind issues such as traffic flow, comfort, and maintenance.

Her dress looks so comfy, but chic and sexy at the same time. Did you know wearing yellow, makes you appear more tan? Wonder what a yellow interior would do?

Hang art on the walls: Artwork can lend a finished look to any room. Pay particular attention to matters of style and color when selecting pieces of art, as you want things to flow and not compete with each other. Be sure to hang any artwork at eye level for the best effect.
Pick your paint colors last, choose mismatched seating, and don't forget the closet lighting.

Include textures and patterns: Texture is a great way to add a unique touch to your home. Texture and patterns draw the eyes to interesting details and also bring balance to the wood, glass, and other smooth surfaces found in a room. This is particularly important in a design theme that’s more contemporary or modern.

Fall MID Rugs

I love rugs, they completely change a space and add pattern/color in unexpected ways. Sometimes I will find an amazing rug and it will be my inspiration for the whole room. Rugs are great starting points for design, since they have so much you can pull from. They also warm up a cold space and bring in all the elements together for a complete look. Is your space missing a fabulous rug? -M

Fall/October

Fall/October

With Halloween just around the corner I thought it would be nice to show you how to create a Halloween ensemble without feeling cheap and cheesy. Mix dark hues such as blacks, grays and silvers with gold instead of your traditional orange. Gold still reads visually as orange, just more subtle and glamorous with glitz. -M

Fall Inspirations

You can tell fall is here when the leaves on the trees start changing and sprinkle the streets in color. The branches are bare and silhouettes fill the sky. I love when fall comes around, I'm really inspired by the trees and the changing of the seasons. My tip for fall interiors is bring a little of the outside in. -M
