Black is Back

Black was one of the first colors used by artists in neolithic cave paintings. In the Roman Empire it became the color of mourning. In the 14th century, it began to be worn by royalty, the clergy, judges and government officials in much of Europe. It became the color worn by English romantic poets, businessmen and statesmen in the 19th century, and a high fashion color in the 20th century.

Many people are scared to use black in a room because they think it would make the room look smaller. To some black may not even be a color, but the absence of color or absorption of it. To me black doesn't make a room smaller, but it makes it elegant and unique, like that perfect little black dress. Black automatically makes any space feel luxurious, mysterious, and interesting. White in black spaces becomes the focal point. In black spaces all colors pop, even light neutrals. So if you're scared of color, a black luxurious room might be the way to go.
